Login and logout

Documentation > Working with CorneliOS > Login and logout

CorneliOS is a multi-user web operating system, which means that you can create multiple user accounts. Each user has his/her own username and password.

Enter the following URL to log into the CorneliOS system:

http://www.example.com/login

Now enter your username and password in the login window. Please note that CorneliOS passwords are case sensitive, allowed characters are a-z, A-Z and 0-9. CorneliOS usernames can only use lower caps, allowed characters are a-z and 0-9.

Logout

If you're running an application in full screen mode then you'll find a logout link in the upper right corner of the screen.

If you're using the desktop mode, open the utility menu in the lower left corner of the screen and click onto the red logout button.

How to change your own password

To change your own password, log into the system:

http://www.example.com/login

You will be taken to the CorneliOS start page. Under "Users & Groups", select "My Account". Enter your new password in the "password" field, then type the same password into the "confirm" field. Push the "update" button to complete your password change.

How to customize the login window

The lower part of the login window can be customized. To change the custom settings you'll have to edit the system configuration (you'll need CorneliOS root privileges to do so). Modify the following file:

/etc/system.conf

New user signup and lost password links are not displayed by default. Use the following configuration lines to turn these features on:

UserLoginWindowSignup on
UserLoginWindowLostPassword on

You may also add custom text to the login window, and this custom text may even contain HTML links:

UserLoginWindowText "custom text to be displayed"

Default Login

The default login usually leads to the full screen mode:

http://www.example.com/login

You may also redirect the login to the desktop mode (or to any other page) by editing the following file (note that you need writing access to this file to change it):

http://www.example.com/login/index.shtml
